Where to Eat
Being a small island, you might expect that there isn't a good variety of restaurants: You will be wrong in your thinking however. Lanzarote has a huge selection of eateries catering for many multicultural tastes.
There are the typical Indian, Chinese, Italian and Mexican restaurants as well as the more traditional Spanish tapas bars and upmarket restaurants serving modern and international food.
Traditional Lanzarotean main courses are usually simply grilled fish or meat, typically served with the Canarian specialty of papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) and Mojo; a traditional canarian Sauce made with Garlic and herbs or Paprika.
The Spanish have strong family traditions and as such most restaurants welcome children happily.
Below are a few suggestions of where to eat in the local area. They have been suggested by holiday makers who visit the island regularly.

The Restaurants that we regularly visit are:
EL PESCADOR - A predominantly fish restaurant, that is located in the corner of the main square. It has a unique interior walled design which appears to reflect mankind's evolution entirely in wood carvings. All dishes are homemade by chef's on the premises, these are great value with very good service. Should there be entertainment on the bandstand, this provides an idyllic location and atmosphere should you choose to sit outside. The Sangria is fantastic! (Children friendly)
PORTOBELLO - This is a brilliant family owned Italian restaurant, that is located on the side walk of the LAS CUCHARAS shopping/eating area. They offer a choice of value for money set menu's or some superb dishes off the main menu.(children friendly)
LA OLA - You will find this as you walk along the main front from Las Cucharas towards the main town. This is a blue and white decorated, canopy restaurant that over looks the beach. This is a fantastic place for a family to eat, whilst people watching and taking in the cool breeze from the sea after a day in the sun. The menu is extensive, and we can fully recommend anything from steaks, tuna, pizza or pasta dishes.(children friendly)
EL PATIO - Located within the main square directly opposite to the Hook Bar, again great service and choice. In addition to very welcoming friendly staff.(children friendly)
These 4 restaurants are all worth more than one visit, so a week is simply never enough.
If you have visited our villa and have visited restaurants you like, we welcome your suggestions.
